Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs)

This inhaler is designed for teenagers' use, featuring easy carry, easy cleaning, and a comfortable shape. Breatheasy breaks the conventional mold on the market, with its unique design and comfortable user experience.

Back to 2020,

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19.

COVID - 19 Influence

“During lockdown, 39.2% reported their asthma management had worsened, and 54.3% reported increased inhaler use”.

The Problem

Teen Asthma

“Approximately 14% of children aged 17 and under have ever been diagnosed with asthma. Among high school students, primarily ages 14-18 years, about 11% currently have asthma”.

Design Goal

Designing an inhaler isn’t just about a medical product; it also takes into account the aesthetics of the design and usability for users.

So, I want to make the “inhaler solving the need for ASTHMATICS as they deliver medicine directly to the lungs”!

The Goal

  • Stronger Case

  • Easy to hold

  • Able to replace medicine

  • Easy to find

Concepts

Foam Development

Test

I aimed to design a metered dose inhaler with a friendly, approachable form that teenagers would feel comfortable using in public, while ensuring it was portable and easy to carry.

Materials

I chose recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for the main body due to its durability, eco-friendliness, and safety for medical applications. For the side grip, I selected rubber to prevent slipping and ensure a secure hold during use.

Color

I chose a bright orange as the primary color to make the inhaler easy to spot during emergencies, ensuring it's quickly accessible when needed.
